Fleetwood Mac – The Landslide

One of the most beautiful heartful pieces of music I’ve ever heard. Goosebumps when I first heard it. So much in it that I love: the simple presentation, her characteristic and soulful voice, vocal lines, soothing guitar play, touching lyrics, the emotion it’s sung with.. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Plus it helps if you have good audio to appreciate the little beautiful parts in it.

It’s sad and melancholic, deep and soulish, vulnerable too. It’s about growing up and being shaped by life experiences, dealing with change, loss and going through the seasons of life. Will you be able to stand the tides of change or go down under. The doubts, the questions.. Leaving old established foundations behind and having to move on with all the uncertainty that comes with it (as she moves on from having built her life around her dad).

Lyrics:

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
‘Til the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Mmm
Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m gettin’ older, too
Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m gettin’ older, too
I’m gettin’ older, too
Ah, take my love, take it down
Oh, climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
Oh, the landslide will bring it down
